Old SJI building,old classical building between Cathay Cinema and Carlton hotel.) | Trimurti & Ten years after This exhibition features works of 3 Singapore contemporary artists. S. Chandrasekaran, Goh Ee Choo and Salleh Japar. These artists are involved in using values found in Asian cultures and philosophies as basis for their "newer" modes of expressions. Of Buddhist interest will be: Goh Ee Choo's Shrine, 1998: Description: The artist is a devout Buddhist and constructed two Buddhist shrines in the galleries. Since 1995 he had begun to produce pieces that dealt directly with the principles of Buddhism. As his main aim is to allow clear communication, he uses objects & symbols that are most identifiable, and able to provide meanings most directly to his viewers. Note : He wrote in 1996: The main aim in my art and life is to raise the overall energy level of the viewer: the spiritual, emotional, and intellectual level ( I see art as one of healing and transformation. ( (in the) theory of dependent-origination, everything is interdependence and (as) interbeing(s) ( we are all interrelated and everything depends on each other). This concept manifests itself in my artworks.Admission to exhibition is $3 adult to exhibitions senior citizens and children $1.50 |

White Jambala symbolises wealth and prosperity. Besides getting to taste the nectar (milk) from the offering, Geshela has also kindly offered to confer the oral transmission of the white Jambala mantra. On top of all these, Geshela will also confer the oral transmission of the Haiyagriva mantra (who is a wrathful manifestation of Avalokiteshvara to subdue demons). Geshela has advised that it will be good for ABC members to recite this powerful mantra together to dispel obstacles for the Centre. |
