Ovadacariya Sayadaw U Panditabhivamsa entered a monastery in a remote village in Burma
at the age of seven, and progressed to become renowned as an outstanding teacher in the tradition of Mahasi
Sayadaw famed for reviving and developing a rigorous meditation technique found in ancient texts.
Sayadaw U Pandita teaches from his own profound meditative experiences gained over more than 70 years of
monastic training, and from his detailed study of the Pali Suttas. Since 1951, he has taught thousands of students,
and travelled to many Asian countries as well as to the United States, Europe and Australia to lead retreats. He is
now the abbot of Panditarama Golden Hill Meditation Centre in Yangon, Myanmar where he teaches ordained
and lay students from Asia and the West. He is also the Chief Religious Advisor of Vipassana Meditation Centre
(Singapore).
