Biography of Sister Ajahn Medhanandi



Sister Ajahn Medhanandi was born in Montreal, Canada in 1949. She holds a MSC in nutrition and has worked with the elderly and disabled in the US as well as served as project manager with UNICEF/WHO and other international aid programmes. Her monastic training began in 1987 when she took ordination with Sayadaw U Pandita in Myanmar. In 1990, she joined the Amaravati Nuns’ Community and trained under the tutelage of Ajahn Sumedho for ten years. Thereafter, she went to New Zealand as part of the wider Sangha of Bodhinyanarama Monastery where she lived in a small hermitage on the Kapiti Coast for six years.
