Bhante Kovida is a meditation teacher at Pa Auk Forest Monastery in Mawlamyine, Myanmar, teaching mostly foreign meditators.
Bhante has 19 vassas*. He ordained as a Novice at the age of 14 in 1990 and took higher ordination in 1996 at Mahavisutarama Monastery in Salin Township.
Bhante studied Buddhist Scriptures at Mahavisutarama Monastery from 1990 to 1999 and at Ma-soe-yein Monastery - a renowned Buddhist monastery in Mandalay from 2000 to 2003. He passed the Dhammacariya Teachership examination and was awarded the title Sasanadhaja-Dhammacariya (Dhamma Teacher). Afterwards, he taught Buddhist Scriptures at Ma-soe-yein Monastery.
In 2006, Bhante Kovida went to Pa Auk Forest Monastery to practice meditation under the guidance of the Most Venerable Pa-Auk Sayadaw and other Sayadaws such as Sayadaw U Kańcana, Sayadaw U Revata etc. Since 2008, he has been appointed to teach meditation at the Monastery.
Bhante Kovida has extensive experience in teaching the Dhamma overseas. He conducted meditation retreats in Korea (2010), Latvia (2010), and Malaysia (2013). Besides retreats, he gave Dhamma talks in Singapore (2010), Malaysia (2011, 2013), China (2013), Indonesia (2013), Taiwan (2013) and Thailand (2015).
