Thupten Jinpa, the principal English Translator of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 1985. He was educated in the classical Tibetan monastic tradition and received the highest academic degree (equivalent to a doctorate in divinity). Jinpa also holds a BA in philosophy and a Ph.D. in religious studies from the university of Cambridge, U.K. where he also worked as o research fellow. He has translated and edited many books by the Dalai Lama, including the recent flew York Time's best seller, “The Universe in a Single Atom: Convergence of Science and Spirituality”.
Jinpa is a senior consultant and contemplative knowledge and practice for Mind and Life Institute, USA, and is on the board of various non-profit organizations. He also teaches as an adjunct professor at McGill University, Montreal, where he lives with his wife and two young daughters.
