Biography of Venerable Khensur Rinpoche Ngawang Thekchok



Khensur Rinpoche Ngawang Thekchok was appointed by His Holiness The Dalai Lama as Abbot of Seramey Monastery where he served as Abbot for more than 10 years. To date, Rinpoche, the highest of the former Abbots of the main Gelupa Monastic Universities has trained many Abbots, Geshes and is still teaching at Sera Mey monastery where he lives today.

Khensur Rinpoche was born in 1928 in Eastern Tibet and became a monk by his own wish at the age of 11 years old, entering Seramey monastery at 17. He has attained the Highest Degree of Studies, the Geshe Lharampa degree and received teaching from his main Tutors: H.H. The Dalai Lama, Kyabje Trijiang Rinpoche, Kyabje Ling Rinpoche and Pabongka Rinpoche.
