Biography of Venerable Hue Can



Venerable Hue Can, a Buddhist nun of the Zen tradition, is conducting a course on Vietnamese Zen at the BF Centre. The methods and practice of this branch of Zen Buddhism is said to have its roots dating back to 3"' century China and now primarily advocated by the Vietnamese Zen Master, Thich Thanh Tu.

Venerable Hue Can was ordained in 1997 and is currently the abbess of Sunyata Community and Meditation Centre in Perth.

Prior to her renunciation, she had been a high school teacher, librarian, manager and consultant. She has also produced many publications on cross-cultural and social issues.
