Professor Chandima Wijeybandara is the head of the department of Pali and
Buddhist Studies at the Jayawardhanapura University, (Sri Lanka), and a
visiting lecturer at the Kelaniya University. He obtained his PhD in
Buddhist Studies from Lancaster University, UK. His areas of interest
include Buddhist history, civilisations and culture, and Buddhist
philosophy. He has published a book entitled "Early Buddhism: Its Religious
and Intellectual Milieu". Besides being a distinguished academician, he is
also actively involved in promoting Buddhist education and social work. He
lectures regularly at the Buddhist Library and has helped planned the
curriculum for its annual "A Guide to Buddhism" series of courses.
